June 16, 2026: Fellowship Hall Mold Remediation Update
Following the discovery of mold growth on the ceiling and beams in Fellowship Hall, Session authorized testing and subsequently closed the space after receiving confirmation that Cladosporium mold was present. While not considered highly toxic, the mold can trigger allergic and respiratory reactions in susceptible individuals. A professional remediation company was selected to clean and treat affected surfaces, with work scheduled to begin on June 18. Additional HVAC and ductwork inspections were also initiated to identify and address the likely source of the moisture contributing to the mold growth. Session remains committed to keeping the congregation informed as remediation efforts continue.

June 18, 2026: Fellowship Hall Mold Remediation Update
Professional mold remediation and cleaning work in Fellowship Hall is currently in progress and is expected to continue through June 22. During this time, Fellowship Hall remains closed, with limited access to adjacent areas available from exterior entrances only. An inspection of the HVAC system and ductwork found them to be clean and free of moisture issues. Additional thermal imaging revealed elevated temperatures near the peak of the ceiling, which, combined with normal moisture over time, likely created conditions favorable for mold growth. Simple repairs are planned to improve airflow and prevent future issues. Session also confirmed that the church's 175th Anniversary Community Service Day will proceed as scheduled with minor modifications.
