sharing the gifts we have been given

The Stewardship Committee recognizes that all that we have and all that we are comes from God. As God’s stewards, it is our responsibility to help the congregation to give of their time, talents, and treasure, not out of obligation or guilt, but according to what they want to become in their relationship with God and with others. Our stewardship is not something we do; it is who we are. The committee is responsible for determining the needs of the church in terms of how people can become involved and in terms of the financial needs to support our many missions and ministries at Pluckemin Presbyterian. They then strive to help the congregation to fulfill those needs.

Stewardship 2018

God is calling us, saying,

“… loose the bonds of injustice, let the oppressed go free, share your bread with the

hungry, bring the homeless poor into your house; when you see the naked, cover them, do not hide yourself from your own kin. Then your light shall break forth like the dawn…”adapted from Isaiah 58:6-8

Stewardship Season is the time each year when we are challenged to

look afresh at our total commitment to Christ. During this time we are asked to rediscover, or discover for the first time our gifts and talents, and to recommit to using them to fulfill our mission to share the reconciling love of Christ with those around us through our worship and service.

We are also asked to take a fresh look at our financial commitment. This has been an exciting year, and we have seen God doing marvelous things in the life of this church. We do step forward in Faith, but at the same time, God has blessed each of us financially to one extent or another, and as much as we are challenged to commit our gifts and talents, so we are also challenged to give of the financial blessings that God has given to us.

This year Stewardship Season begins on October 14, as we look for a few weeks at what it means to be good stewards of all that God has given to us.

We have a few special events taking place this year to help bring more clarity and focus to our commitment:

October 23 – First Annual Stewardship Soup and Chili Dinner, with Special Guest Speaker Rev. Jason Tucker, Senior Pastor at Tower Hill Presbyterian Church, Red Bank, NJ

October 28 – Mission Partner Sunday – New City Kids Worship Team will be with us to help lead us in worship – Followed by lunch

November 14 – Commitment Sunday – Followed by lunch
