The Stewardship Committee recognizes that all that we have and all that we are comes from God. As God’s stewards, it is our responsibility to help the congregation to give of their time, talents, and treasure, not out of obligation or guilt, but according to what they want to become in their relationship with God and with others. Our stewardship is not something we do; it is who we are.
The committee is responsible for determining the needs of the church in terms of how people can become involved and in terms of the financial needs to support our many missions and ministries at Pluckemin Presbyterian. They then strive to help the congregation to fulfill those needs.

Stewardship 2021
And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. And all who believed were together and had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved. (ESV) Acts 2:42–47
These verses from Acts paint a picture of the very earliest church. In a time of struggle and persecution, following the death of the Lord, in ever changing circumstances they continued to be faithful to the One who had called them, and to work together, caring for each other, and sharing the good news of Christ in various ways with all those around them.
This year we have been, and still are facing circumstances
that few of us would ever have imagined. But in the midst of COVID, and
political disagreements, and racial riots we have remained faithful to the calling
of our Lord to be a hub of caring in our community. We have seen the
Medical Equipment Ministry reopen and serve people in need. We have seen
the Burd house be transformed and take shape as the regional HQ of the Raritan
Valley Habitat for Humanity. We have seen the Preschool continue to
flourish, as parents have entrusted their most precious children into the care
of the leaders and teachers of the Giving Nest. We have seen our
community grow through online interactions and engagement, and we have
creatively embraced new ways of doing things.
In this season of stewardship, we have the opportunity to pledge to continue to support the work that God is doing in our midst, even as we are facing the challenges that have been so prevalent in 2020. This is an opportunity for us to continue to give of our time, our talents, and our treasures to become the people and the church that God is calling us to be. Your financial commitment allows this church to continue to flourish and witness to all those around us.
We hope that you will prayerfully consider your financial
pledge for 2021, so that we can continue to support our mission partners in the
US and abroad and to continue to do the work of ministry and caring in the
communities around us and further afield.
This year we have given you the opportunity to fill out your pledge card online.
May God continue to bless and nourish you in your giving, as together we seek to Give Ourselves Away.
In Christ,
Pastor Ian Rankine
