They're beautiful to look at, fun to carve into magical creations for Halloween and their arrival at Pluckemin Presbyterian Church signals all things fall. But did you know that our supplier, Pumpkin Patch Fundraisers, in cooperation with the Navajo Nation in New Mexico, grows 1,200 acres or approximately 2 square miles of pumpkins and employs over 700 Native Americans during the harvest months of September and October? They also have a full time off-season staff that is comprised of entirely Native Americans. This has a positive and lasting impact on a region with 42% unemployment. When you purchase a pumpkin, you're not just getting a fun decoration, you're helping the Navajo and Pluckemin Presbyterian Church at the same time. A portion of the proceeds come back to the church for community outreach.
The Patch is open daily from October 12-31 from 12:00pm - 6:00pm.
